URL Encoding and decoding:

URL encoding also called a Uniform Resource Identifier, is also used in query strings.

URL Encoding or decoding is the process of adding special characters to your URL, also known as percent-encoding. Encoding an URL means adding a % sign to the unallowed characters with two hexadecimal value, while decoding helps you to see the source of your newsletter or the email campaign.

Using URL encoder/decoder:

It is easy to use this as this an online tool and free to use. The URL encoder/decoder works in this way, and you need to enter the characters in the space and then click on encode or decode. Thus, the encoder or decoder adds the % to the string and also adds alphanumeric characters while encoding it.

You can also check a javascript code that is encoded and decode it for better understanding. This encoder or decoder also adds a + symbol in case of white spaces. The URL does not contain any ASCII characters in it, so it changes the ASCII characters to unuseable ASCII characters.

Working of a URL Encoding/Decoding:

As we all know that the URL encoder or decoder only uses a set of characters in encoding or decoding. These are capital and small alphabets, numerical, underscore hyphens, period, $, *, etc., we should also know how it works.

In URL encoding the ASCII characters are converted to non-ASCII, and then they are replaced by % followed by two hexadecimal letters. But the non-ASCII characters are converted directly to bytes using UTF-8 coding.

Although it is known as URL encoding, it is called a Uniform Resource Identifier, which is a combination of both Uniform Resource Locator and Uniform Resource Name. You can use the HTTP requests for submitting and preparing HTML form data.

In  URI, the reserved characters have special meaning, for example, using a slash to replace non-ASCII characters, and the unreserved characters have no particular sense.

Conclusion:

So far we have seen the what URL encoding is, what is the importance of it, how to use the URL encoder, and the working of URL Encoding. URL encoding plays a significant role as the URL gets shorten by it, and the viewers do not feel the burden in typing longer URLs. Thus you can also encode or decode your URL by using any of the online tools available for free.

SO FAR, SO GOOD.

Happy Blogging. Cheers!!
